About the Author


Marvin Brauer, after working 33 years as physician has laid down the stethoscope and taken up the pen. He has published two books of poetry: Poet in Love, and other tragedies; and Where the Redbud Grows. He has published a historical fiction novel, Shall Die by the Sword.  He has finished a memoir, Good Morning, Mr. Brauer! The fond remembrance of his year teaching twenty students and all eight grades and is prospecting for an agent/publisher to take it. He is currently working on a fantasy fiction novel. 

He has been married to the love of his life, Judy Haas Brauer, for 36+ years, has two beloved daughters, and spends a couple days a week babysitting and dancing with his grandson. 

His hobbies include hiking, skiing, chess, and birdwatching. This year he and his wife are trying to see a different California State park each week. The picture above is the Salton Sea. 

Some of his favorite movies are: Pride and Prejudice, Lost in Translation, The Well-Digger's Daughter, Private Ryan, but also Zombieland!

His musical influences are legion: of course The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Police, Garbage, the Cardigans, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, but also Nat King Cole, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Gustav Mahler, Patsy Cline, Bach, Greg Zarukas, Miles Davis, and European Cafe music.
